Spotify Introduces Artist Fundraising Pick to Help Musicians Through Covid-19 Pandemic

Spotify for Artists has just launched the Artist Fundraising Pick, a new feature. Instead of artists emphasizing a song, playlist, etc. on their profile as an Artist’s Pick, they can now direct listeners to a destination for fundraising.
Now that revenue is solely dependent on streaming for most artists, this makes a welcome addition to a profile. Artists may opt to add a link right now to Cash App, GoFundMe, and PayPal.me.
“We are particularly excited about our partnership with Cash App because, during these challenging times, they generously set up a $1 million relief effort for artists,” reads a Spotify press release.
“Spotify users who submit their” $cashtag “username as their Artist Fundraising Pick and secure at least one contribution of any size through Spotify will receive an additional $100 in their Cash App account until a collective $1 million contribution has been made.
This effort is available to artists in the U.S. & UK, but Spotify listeners across the globe can still make contributions through the Cash App. “There’s also an option for artists to fund an initiative to help those most affected in the music industry. “Artists may select any of the verified organizations that participate in the project Spotify COVID-19 Music Relief.”
