Chairman of Chris Giwa Foundation, Amb Chris Giwa has awarded scholarship to over 280 students in his community.
Amb Giwa whose philanthrophy over the years has drawn commendation from people of all walks of life also released funds for the scholarship.
The scholarship cover beneficiaries in Kuru community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Amb Giwa who was represented by Hon Chris Dabang, Former Special Adviser to Gov Lalong on Special Duty disbursed over three (3) million naira to the various beneficiaries in eleven (11) schools across Kuru during the programme which held today, the 9th of March, 2020 at GSS Hwak, Kuru.
The schools were the beneficiaries were drawn from include; Datoma Academy, Government Technical College, Berom Community Secondary School, St. Andrew's Anglican School, St John Busco School, GSS Hawk, GSS Kanadap, Pla - Poly Academy, Government Science School, God Bless Academy, and Favour International School.
Representative of Amb Chris Giwa, Hon Dabang stated that the financial support to the students was beyond politics as the philanthropist for years has been doing a lot to better the lives of many in the society.
“Awarding scholarship to students is what I have been doing for years because I know the role of education in helping our people overcome poverty, deprivation and lack.
“This is to help students that are academically gifted to make the best out of their potentials.
“We have also adopted the strategy of making direct payment to various schools of all the beneficiaries to make the scheme effective and serve its purpose.
“My promise is to stay resolutely committed to this scholarship scheme for as long as possible,’’ Amb Giwa said.
Community leaders, parents of beneficiaries, educationists present, and members of Kuru traditional council applauded the intervention of Amb Chris Giwa charging others to emulate him as his philanthropic gesture is legendary and knows no bound.
