Gist : Akon Says He Signed Wizkid And Davido But Complains That Contracts Are Not Honored In Nigeria
Akon in an on air interview with The breakfast club opens up that he signed Wizkid and Davido. He also said he never stopped or gave up on music but was there working on Afro beat kind of music.
At the time Akon came to Nigeria Psquare were biggest artistes then they featured him in there song ‘Chop my money’ which was the hit song at that time.
Davido actually started his music career in Atlanta for those that do not know. But then he decided to move back to his country, tired of the hustle out there and came back to make something big and then at a glimpse he did. And has made it to be one of the best Afro beat Artiste in Africa.
“What I love about Davido is, he’s an Independent artiste, he came with the US hustle and brought it to Africa” Akon says as he goes on commending the Afro beat artistes.
Then Akon goes on saying that Davido is no longer signed to him. And how Contracts made in Africa are all about shaking hands especially in Nigeria. And that his relationship with Davido at that time was more like being a big brother to him, telling him and coaching him on what and what not to do.
Akon whom has been of help to a lot of artistes with the likes of: Tpain, Lady Gaga, French Montana, Wizkid etc seems not to get a lot of credit for the things he did. “I don’t do anything to expect anything back” He says that everything he does comes from his heart and that’s how he gets his blessing.
He goes on saying that we all have our destinies and rolls to play with or Without him.
